Krizayla looked at Devon and couldn't help but laugh.
"Are you kidding me? Do you really want me to believe that
you want to fly me to Saudi Arabia nd kill some guy so your little
organization can take over the world? That's ridiculous!
You expect me to believe you? Trying ot play a joke on me
isn't going to work! You need to get a life and leave me alone!
Krizayla snickered adn went out the door. But before hse
left, the man spoke once more. "You will pay for your choice.
I'll be seeing you again." Krizayla turned back around to
face him but when she did, no one was there. Woah, that was a
little creepy, she thought. He's probably some stupid guy trying
to scare me, but it's not going to work!
Krizayla drove home, it was getting late and she was hungry. She
didn't think about what happened that night for the rest of the week.
It was now Monday, over a week after the footbal game. Krizayla
drove herself home from school in her new Mercedes Benz. The
whole drive home she thought about Shawn. Homecoming was in four
days and he still hadn't asked her yet! "He almost came up and
talked to me at lunch and I saw him looking at me in Biology," She
thought. She arrived in the new development that her family had ust
moved to. It was nice, green grass, the house was large and
spacey, the neighbors were nice and life was good!
She parked the car and went inside. She was hungry becasue she
studied the whole lunch period for a History test. She went to
the kitchen expecting her mom to be makin gcookies or cooking something
for dinner, but she wasn't there. She walked past the kitchen
table and almost slipped on the squeaky clean tile. Shw was about
to open the refrigerator, but then she noticed a note stuck to it with
a flower magnet. It was from her mom. She could tell
because it was written on garden stationery. KRizayla had gotten
that for her for Christmas this past year. It said, "your grandma
needed help around the house, I'll be home 7ish." Krizayla threw
the note away, grabbed a chewy bar adn went up to her room to do her
homework.
"Ahhh! Why do we always have so much homework?" Krizayla
said out loud to no one in particular. She could barely carry her
backpack up the stairs. She trudged down the hall to her room, which
was at the end of the hallway. She threw down her backpack on her pink
and green striped comforter in relief. She was about to unzip her
backpack when the doorbell rang. She ran to her window, which had
green curtains. One advantage of her room was that she could see
who was at the front door. She looked harder adn didn't dsee
anyone. Then, someone in a dark trench coat stepped out form teh
shadows, that Krizayla couldn't see, and rung the doorbell again.
It was Devon. She remembered his long, lanky figure and his
dark piercing eyes. What does he want now? Krizayla
thought. She could go down and talk to him, baybe he was there to
say sorry for the whole joke. Or maybe he was dangerous.
What should she do?
