Not wanting to go into her room alone Veronica turned to get her mother. She walked down the dark narrow hallway to the kitchen, where her mother was unpacking dishes.
“Oh, hi sweetie! Can you help me load up the dish washer?” Her mother asked absent-mindedly. Only turning to look at her daughter when no response came.
“What’s wrong honey?” Her mother asked seeing the twinge of fear and embarrassment on her daughter’s young face.
“Will you please come with me to my room mother?” Veronica asked.
“Alright,” Her mother said giving her daughter an inquisitive look.
The two of them made their way down the long dark hall to Veronica’s room. Pushing open the door, a complete disaster was laid before them. The two women gasped when they saw the contents of every box strewn across the room. Veronica’s clothes sat ripped on her bed and the drawers of her dresser lay shattered on the floor. Veronica started shifting through all of her belongings to see if anything was missing. While in the process of doing this she saw that her silver jewelry box was laying on it side half open. Veronica bent down to pick it up and to her dismay, it was completely empty!
“IT’S GONE! My ring is gone!” Veronica screamed.
“Well it should be here somewhere.” Her mother said soothingly. “No it’s gone!” She repeated. Veronica turned and was now facing her mirror, which had a small tremor going through it. She walked to it slowly and saw a different world in its depths.
“ You need to go in there you know.” Her mother said sadly.
