Course Description:

This class is comprised of grammar, vocabulary, literature and writing.  Our focus is on the 7^th grade Academic Content Standards as defined by the state of Ohio.      

This includes:

• Grammar lessons that will equip you with the skills to use punctuation (commas, quotation marks, semicolons, colons, etc.) and parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, conjunctions, prepositions and interjections) correctly.
• Vocabulary lessons that will enable you to recognize analogies, dissect words by their root meanings and comprehend new words.
• Short stories from your text, The Language of Literature, and other sources to help with learning how to summarize, identify and explain main idea, point of view, similes, metaphors and other figurative language.
• Writing lessons that will help you maintain a clear focus, use sensory details, persuasive techniques and dialogue.
