Extra Credit:  If you are on the verge of the next highest grade (only a few points away), you may ask to do extra credit.  However, do NOT ask to do extra credit the week before the end of the quarter.  Be prepared and check your grade at least two weeks before the end of the quarter.  If you get finished with your work early, you may ask to check on Progress Book for your current grade.
